3) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

A production company makes the media product, so our production Bush Baby productions has made a media product now we want it to be distributed by a big mainstream company as our product is a mass media product its suited for a mainstream target audience (family adventure), we looked at Disney and Warner Brothers, we thought Disney would be good as they are the world biggest conglomerates and could benefit our product and income as we would be horizontally integrated so income and future profits would be shared out equally, but they haven’t done many reality adventure films, they have produced and distributed more animation whereas Warner Brothers don’t have many adventure films, so it illuminates our competition and more people would be eager to see an adventure film by warner brothers as the only real adventure films warner brothers have distributed is Batman, which is completely different to our product.

 

 

 

 

We would be able to ask for funding from Warner Brothers as they have a good funding from Time Warner. Bush baby productions would be vertically integrated so we wouldn’t receive a big income or future profits as it will mainly go to Time Warner as they are the biggest company in the vertical integration. We know that our product would become recognised a lot quicker if I was with Warner Brothers and would make more money where as if we tried making our product independent because we haven’t got the funding for big adverting, the use of synergy or even the public recognition, whereas Warner Brothers already have. We would have to look at our title layouts in the opening credits to make sure it’s apparent Time Warner and Warner brothers we incorporated in the titles at the start as they will want to be recognised straight away to show the public they helped our product be distributed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

We would want our product to be distributed to mainstream cinemas such as Odeon because that is where our mainstream audience would see it being advertised; also mainstream cinemas are the most popular so we would want our film being distributed to the most populated and known cinemas as there are more people watching our film, also our film will be distributed by real even though it takes longer to set up and distribute around the country it makes our product harder to become pirate copied. Our film would be distributed to video retailers such as HMV, but will also be available for online stores such as Amazon, as it widens the range of our product being purchased.

 

 

Merchandising could benefit our product as it can increase our sales and profitability and brings in new customers to the store so could help the store out as well. So it can benefit both parties of business. Franchising may be beneficial as well as franchises are paying our company to have our product in there stores so it could also increase sales and popularity of our product.
