5)How did you
attract/ address your audience?
We used a different variety of character personalities. For
example there are characters which are more 'macho' and like to take lead, like
Tyler and Lilly. Then we had a character that is very intelligent, and are
always there to solve any problems, such as Leo. We also wanted a character who
was the group clown, the one who is getting themselves into funny situations
and we used chuck, we made him seem the “dim” uneducated character, we didn’t want
it to seem he got bullied but wanted him to cause the entertainment. We wanted
to also have a wide range of character so certain members of the target audience
can relate to, we also incorporated certain types of parents, for instance a
working mother, and to show how chuck is a “mummy’s boy” so parents could also
relate to the film so all ages can gain entertainment out of our product.

When editing we took certain clips with better camera angles such as low angles on the children to show the children being more powerful, we did this as our target audience is for a family so we gave the children more power as it would appeal to the children more when they see children in the film have more power, we also used low angles on the parents to show they still had more authority over their children as it restored the balance of the film.
The music we incorporated into our film opening attracted a younger audience as it was a more fun bouncy tune to make the children enjoy the film more and to get them into the film more, the piece we used was relatively old so the older audience watching could also relate to it.
We attracted our audience by using certain conventions through
our product that made the target audience enjoy the product a lot more and made
it relatable for them.
Another thing we used to attract our main target audience was
to use basic language that the target audience would use in everyday life. We didn’t
use any bad language, and when we used slang we made sure the whole target audience
understood it. This helped us attract more people from our target audience as
the adults/parents are the people who were taking their kids to see our film; if
we used bad language or language that wasn’t particularly understandable then
the parents would want to leave before the film ended and would give the film a
bad reputation.
A big thing we considered when making the film opening was
to make it as realistic as possible, meaning only using things that the younger
generation would use, for example bikes, and only use situations which kids
would be able to understand or are likely to be in. by doing this it made the
film more enjoyable for the kids, because if there where situations that kids
wouldn't understand during the opening of the film, then when the children
watching the film could possibly get
confused and not enjoy the film.
Another thing we did to make sure we attracted a British
audience was using British actors. There were also some characters being played
by big name American actors and actresses such as Eva Mendes; however some were
being played by big name British actors such as Hugh Laurie. We wanted to have
a balance of British and American actors so the American audience and British audience
would enjoy our product more. This also attracted more British audiences to our
film as Hugh Laurie is a very established actor in the UK and America; so many
people from England were interested to see him in our product.
